{"id":8144,"date":"2017-08-05T14:57:47","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T04:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/members.heidelberggc.com.au\/cms\/?p=8144"},"modified":"2023-06-20T16:22:43","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:22:43","slug":"changes-in-smoking-laws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/members.heidelberggc.com.au\/cms\/2017\/08\/changes-in-smoking-laws\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes in Smoking Laws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Changes in Smoking Laws<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Members please note changes to Smoking Laws that will affect our Clubhouse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From 1 August 2017, smoking will be banned:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">in outdoor areas at hospitality and food venues used for eating food. This includes footpath dining areas, courtyards and beer gardens during times food is being eaten, or is available to be eaten;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">in all outdoor areas at food fairs. A food fair is an event where the principal activity is the supply of food for consumption at the event;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">within 10 metres of a food stall or food vendor at organised outdoor event (other than a food fair);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To complement smoke-free outdoor dining, smoking is banned in an outdoor drinking area if any part of that area is within 4 metres of an outdoor dining area, unless separated by a wall of at least 2.1 metres high. This means the two areas can be separated by either;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">a 4 metre buffer zone; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">a wall of at least 2.1 metres high.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Committee has approved the below areas marked in green around the clubhouse that members and guests will be allowed to smoke;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/members.heidelberggc.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Smoking.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-8145\" src=\"https:\/\/members.heidelberggc.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Smoking-300x203.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"437\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/members.heidelberggc.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Smoking-300x203.png 300w, https:\/\/members.heidelberggc.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Smoking.png 606w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 437px) 100vw, 437px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If the separation requirement is not met, smoking is banned in an outdoor drinking area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What are the reasons for smoke-free outdoor dining?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There is a strong community support for smoke-free outdoor dining.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoke-free outdoor dining will;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">protect the community from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">de-normalise smoking behaviours, which is particularly important for discouraging children from taking up smoking;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">support people who have recently quit smoking or who are trying to quit smoking by removing smoking visual cues and triggers;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">improve Victorians\u2019 outdoor dining experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What does this mean for the Heidelberg Golf Club?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking is <strong>not<\/strong> permitted on the top level of the Members Bar balcony<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking is permitted on the bottom level of the Members Bar balcony<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking is permitted on the North and West side of the Front Veranda<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking is <strong>not<\/strong> permitted on the South side of the Front veranda<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking is not permitted out the front of the Bryn Teg Room<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smoking is permitted under the sails.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lindsay Bell<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">General Manager<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Heidelberg Golf Club<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Changes in Smoking Laws Members please note changes to Smoking Laws that will affect our Clubhouse.
