Fantastic season by both Teams, unfortunately narrowly going down in the Final on Sunday at Kew. Magnificent turn out by HGC members, the Board, and Sponsors, which all the boys truly appreciated on the day.

Despite going down, a very successful season, where both teams will be promoted a Division in VGA Pennant for 2027. Youth (Division 1). Men’s (Division 3). Congratulations to Trent Williams for achieving an undefeated season medal, excluding the final. This is a rare accomplishment.

Thanks to Dean Turner (Men’s Manager) and Peter Andrew (Youth Manager) for their time, dedication and care throughout the season. The club is extremely grateful for their time and knowledge in Pennant.

Whilst disappointed, we hold our heads high knowing we fought hard on Sunday and played some great golf. 3 matches went down to the 19th hole (all square after 18) and we just couldn’t squeeze one of those for the Flag.

Changes to Opening of Timesheets – Trial from 1 May

Heidelberg Golf Club will be introducing a change to tee time bookings, effective from 1 May, as part of a trial aimed at improving access and fairness for all members.

Over recent months, the club has experienced a significant number of “ghost bookings,” where tee times are reserved but not used. In fact, it is estimated that up to one in four bookings are not resulting in play, which is limiting availability for members who genuinely wish to get on the course.

To address this issue, the club will be moving to a 5-day advance booking window. This approach has been adopted successfully by other golf clubs and has led to a substantial reduction in unused bookings, improving overall course access.

In addition, the club will be closely monitoring booking patterns. Members who repeatedly book tee times and do not attend may be subject to further review.

This initiative will run as a two-month trial, after which the club will assess its effectiveness and determine whether the change should be made permanent.

We appreciate the cooperation of all members in helping to ensure fair and equitable access to the course.

Our 2 male Pennant Teams have secured a spot each in the VGA Final, this coming Sunday 26th April.

Both our Teams finished 2nd for the season! This has not occurred since 1986, a wonderful achievement so far, with 2 Flags to win next weekend.
