Gala Day

The perfect weather conditions and beautiful course led to a successful Women’s Gala Day on Tuesday the 17th October at Heidelberg Golf Club.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise funds for the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

Everything ran smoothly on the day and we received a lot of positive comments about the course and the day.

Also a big thanks to all who donated a raffle gift and helped out leading up the big day.

Just over $3000 was raised for this worthwhile cause. An amazing achievement.

Green Renovations & Coring Works

Big Hole Golf Competitions

On Monday 23rd October the course and Golf Shop will be closed for green renovations and coring. This will be a major core for the greens and while they are recovering, we will be playing big hole golf format for member competitions. Big Hole Golf is a larger than normal hole, designed to make it easier and more enjoyable during a time when the greens aren’t running true.

The competitions wont be handicapped but will be the same cost per entry and have the same prize break downs as normal.

Once the greens are back to playable conditions the Big Hole Golf format will be removed.

Enjoy

Changes in Smoking Laws

Members please note changes to Smoking Laws that will affect our Clubhouse.

From 1 August 2017, smoking will be banned:

  • in outdoor areas at hospitality and food venues used for eating food. This includes footpath dining areas, courtyards and beer gardens during times food is being eaten, or is available to be eaten;
  • in all outdoor areas at food fairs. A food fair is an event where the principal activity is the supply of food for consumption at the event;
  • within 10 metres of a food stall or food vendor at organised outdoor event (other than a food fair);
  • To complement smoke-free outdoor dining, smoking is banned in an outdoor drinking area if any part of that area is within 4 metres of an outdoor dining area, unless separated by a wall of at least 2.1 metres high. This means the two areas can be separated by either;
    • a 4 metre buffer zone; or
    • a wall of at least 2.1 metres high.

The Committee has approved the below areas marked in green around the clubhouse that members and guests will be allowed to smoke;

If the separation requirement is not met, smoking is banned in an outdoor drinking area.

What are the reasons for smoke-free outdoor dining?

There is a strong community support for smoke-free outdoor dining.

Smoke-free outdoor dining will;

  • protect the community from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke;
  • de-normalise smoking behaviours, which is particularly important for discouraging children from taking up smoking;
  • support people who have recently quit smoking or who are trying to quit smoking by removing smoking visual cues and triggers;
  • improve Victorians’ outdoor dining experience.

What does this mean for the Heidelberg Golf Club?

  • Smoking is not permitted on the top level of the Members Bar balcony
  • Smoking is permitted on the bottom level of the Members Bar balcony
  • Smoking is permitted on the North and West side of the Front Veranda
  • Smoking is not permitted on the South side of the Front veranda
  • Smoking is not permitted out the front of the Bryn Teg Room
  • Smoking is permitted under the sails.
