Club Championship Saturday Update & Cut

James Evans in A Grade has shot a 72 to take the lead in the Club Championships by 4 shots over Josh Shortis and Mark Stuart. Shortis carded a 73 today to bring him into the final grouping for Sunday. In B Grade Sam Johnson has taken a 4 shot lead over Con Terpos. C Grade has seen Gary Hodges retain his number one position, having another consistent round of 88 today and leading C grade by 5 shots over Dale Ware. D Grade is currently in a 3 way tie with Brian Fraser, Tony Vizzari and Kevin Krahe sitting on 94.

Final Round for all grades tomorrow and all players should experience the course set up in superb condition once again. Good luck to all players.

Thank you everyone for your support of this year’s Gala Day. Sixty ladies teed off and had fabulous day of golf followed by delightful lunch. We raised $3,130 for the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
Special acknowledgement to Diamond Valley Mitre 10, Get Wines Direct, Bodyline Health, Metropolitan Foods, the Pro Shop and Jean Sortino. Thanks to everyone who donated items, volunteered their time and helped before and on the day to ensure our annual event was so successful.

Social Committee October Update

Spring and daylight savings have arrived and the club’s social scene is in full swing. The following are what is coming up between now and Christmas:

Upcoming Events:

  1. ‘Shootout at the Berg’ & Friday Night Dinners With the popular “Par 3” contest beginning last week and running through to the end of the year Friday nights are a great time to come down to the club for a fun round of golf and dinner at the club.  Even if you can’t play in the par 3 competition you can come down and enjoy dinner in the wonderful atmosphere of your own clubhouse with a choice of 5-6 menu favourites. We’ll also be holding the monthly birthday dinners every month so keep an eye out for the dates in November and December.
  2. Heidelberg’s Annual Reverse Raffle –tickets are selling fast for what has fast become an institution on our social calendar. The 3rdannual Reverse Raffle is scheduled for Sunday October 27th. The format for the day is a last man standing raffle with 1stprize of $3,000, 2nd and 3rd get $500 each while the next 10 places get their money back. The rest get to spend the afternoon enjoying the club’s fine hospitality with an open bar and all-day food from 12:30pm to 5:00pm all included in the price of the ticket. Tickets now on sale at $100 each so please see Alby or Italo to secure yours.
  3. Melbourne Cup Luncheon –this annual event will be held again this year on Cup Day, Tuesday 5th November. On offer is the usual great food with a 3-course luncheon as well as sweeps and prizes for best dressed. Keep an eye out on the website for details of the day and how to book. Come along, bring your friend and enjoy what is always a great day at your club
  4. Afternoon on the Green – Sunday November 10th with live music performed by Joel Quinn between 2:00pm – 5:00pm. $25.00per head for finger food and 2 x complimentary drinks with barefoot bowls running for those that are feeling slightly competitive. Otherwise sit back, relax and enjoy the music on what promises to be a relaxing and enjoyable day.

Des Shoots 80 when 81

On Wednesday 16th October Des shot 81 gross, scoring 44 points and winning the comp. Des’s score also was lower than his age, which is a fantastic effort.

Well done Des on achieving this milestone and it should get easier each year now. 

Congratulations to CJ Bebi who took out this years Helloworld Masters Heidelberg.

Also congratulations to Annette Rose, Jake Hoobin and and Darren Neil who just missed out in a tight final.

CJ is now off to Bonville Golf Resort with a friend thanks to our major sponsors Helloworld Ivanhoe and Bonville Golf Club. 

 

 

Lachie Aylen Wins Portsea Open Amateur 

 

Heidelberg Golf Club was well represented at the Portsea Open Amateur this year with Lachie Aylen and Tobey Walker in the mens event and Jessica Pickwick in the womens . Lachie and Tobey made the final paring in the final round. Lachie and Tobey battled all the way through the final round with Lachie securing the title during the closing holes. Well done to Lachie winning the prestigious event. Lachlie Aylen  with a impressive four round total of 279 (-5).  Rounds of 71, 69, 66 and 73 gave Lachlie a 1 stroke victory.  In second place on a countback was Shane Feldman with a total of 280.  Toby Walker finished in third position also on a score of 4 under par 280.

The Women’s event was a tightly fought battle with two players tied at the top coming into the final round.  By the end of the final round there was a three-way tie at the top with Jessica Pickwick, Keeley Marx and Alexandra Hilliard all finishing on a four-round score of 293. Jessica is also a member at Heidelberg, representing HGC in division 1 Pennant for a number of years.  Marx won the Women’s Event, Keeley was a budding Junior in Luke’s academy back when Luke was at Yarrambat. Well done Keeley and great effort by Jessica.
