Today, Golf Australia provided clubs with an update in relation to the State Government’s targeted restrictions. The advice provided to all golf clubs is that any member who resides within any of the nominated postcodes is not to visit a golf club during the lockdown period from 11.59 pm on Wednesday 1st of July until at least Wednesday 29th July. Our club records show that we only have one financial member who could be affected by these new conditions. All members’ guests will have to adhere to these rules. License checks will be requested by the golf shop.

Clubs & Facilities located in those postcodes
The Victorian Government has advised that clubs & facilities within these postcodes must close from 11.59pm on Wednesday the 1st of July until at least Wednesday, 29 July.

Clubs and facilities can continue normal maintenance practices during this time with either a paid or volunteer workforce.

Clubs & Facilities located outside of those postcodes
The Victorian Government has advised the following that will have an impact on clubs and facilities outside of those postcodes;

  • That residents of those postcodes, should not be leaving home to play golf outside those postcodes, as golf does not fit into the four essential reasons to leave home

The effect of this advice on clubs and facilities in non-affected postcodes is as follows:

  • If you have members who reside in any of the above postcodes who present themselves at your club/facility to play golf or utilise other facilities, you should request the member to leave the premises immediately.
  • Member guest players from the above postcodes should not be accepted for play, and clubs and facilities should continue to collect information of all guests of your club/facility. If a guest resides in any of the above postcodes, you should request the guest to leave the premises immediately.

To further this the DHHS states;
If you live in one of these locations you need to stay at home. There are four reasons that you can leave home:

  • Shopping for food or other essential items
  • To provide care giving, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment
  • For exercise (outdoor exercise only, with only one other person or members of your household)
  • Work or study, if you cannot work or study from home

The club will be contacting those who reside within those areas to inform them they will not be able to attend the club during the lockdown period.

Similarly, members must also be aware that any guests they bring to the club must reside outside the nominated postcodes. The pro shop & bar staff will be asking for a photo ID showing the address of any guest visiting Heidelberg Golf Club.

Alvin is still missing. Offering a substantial reward for his return.

**Can everybody keep an eye and ear open for Alvin, your neighbour may have a new dog or you may hear barking you don’t usually hear**

He has been missing since 7pm 2nd June 2020. My son and I are heartbroken. He went missing from Viewbank in Victoria when a pool maintenance contractor left our gate open. There hasn’t been one sighting. Alvin is 14 and has arthritis and a very short coat having just been clipped. We do not know what has happened to Alvin. We pray he hasn’t suffered. If somebody has Alvin, please call Banyule Council who will collect him. If you are not planning on returning him to us please be kind, it will be hard for him to spend his final years without the people he loves and who love and adore him. Schnauzers fret and he will deteriorate very quickly. Please get his coat trimmed to avoid fur ball knots which will pull at his skin, and painfully cripple his feet. He needs love and care, to be warm, please let him be an indoor dog, he is in his old age now. Please get him to a vet when he needs it, please don’t let Alvin suffer. He deserves only the best of love. Thank-you.

New Lottery Feature

The Lottery feature randomises the entry process for members so each entrant has an equally lucky or unlucky chance to obtain a tee time on busy or heavily contested timesheets.

You can access the fixture list up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled opening of a timesheet. You are required to click on ‘Join Draw’ to get a ticket in the Lottery and wait for the clock to countdown. The draw closes 5 seconds before the timesheet opens and entrants are randomised like a lottery.

Do not refresh your browser.

The first 5 members in the ‘Lottery’ have immediate access to the timesheet to find a tee time.  The remainder of entrants are ordered by their allocated ticket number.  So Ticket #1 is the eleventh member to enter the timesheet.

The advantages of Lottery

  • Eliminates fastest click win
  • All connected devices have an equal chance regardless of internet type and speed
  • Completely random
  • Members have a better chance of getting the tee time selected with only 10 members accessing the timesheet at any one time ie less rejected selections
  • Only adds approximately 15 to 20 seconds to the booking experience, if not one of the first 10 to enter the draw.

if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Members,

As you are aware, COVID-19 or the Coronavirus as it is more commonly known has created global health concerns regarding the disease and its infection rates.

We have tonight received correspondence from Golf Australia in relation to our adherence to the Victorian Government’s Stage 2 Restrictions which were introduced March 25 2020.It is Heidelberg Golf Club’s decision, based on the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services directive issued as part of the Victorian Government’s Stage 2 restrictions regarding COVID-19, all golf clubs and facilities should close until April 13, 2020

While this is a difficult time for the golf industry, Heidelberg Golf Club is committed to protecting the health of our members and employees and is hoping that this this closure will mean we are able to quickly return to our normal club operations sooner rather than later.

On a positive note, we will take this opportunity to renovate the greens next week to ensure that the course will be in optimum condition for your return.

We will keep you updated on future developments as soon as they are made available to us.

Please look after yourselves and each other and I look forward to seeing you on the course in the not too distant future.

Club Champions Named

Final Grade and Senior Winners

Congratulations to James Evans, Heidelberg Golf Club Champion and Junior Club Champion 2019

James has recently finished his exams for his VCE, and has dedicated what time he had left to prepare for the Championships.  James kept off a late charge by Mark Stuart in the closing holes, and some solid golf by Dean Turner and Mark Higham who were 4 under the card, only a few shots away through 12 holes today. James has secured his first Club and Junior Championship today and since completing his studies, looks to take his golf further next year. Well Done and Good Luck James from everyone at the Heidelberg Golf Club.

Full Results and Photos of winners will be posted tomorrow
