2017 Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro Am

Congratulations to the 2017 Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro Am winner Simon Hawkes.

The event provided an opportunity for the Club to showcase the excellent presentation of our golf course and raise money for our local charity CAVE. Mother Nature turned on the weather for us and we were lucky enough to witness Simon Hawkes play a faultless round of 8 under 64 to shoot a new course record.

Hawkes flies low at Pro am

Simon Hawkes set a new course record today in the GetWinesDirect Pro-Am at the Heidelberg Golf Club with a faultless round of 8-under 64, beating the previous record held by Kris Mueck (65) who also competed today.

After teeing off on the 10^th hole Hawkes birdied five of his first nine holes, to make the turn in 31. He then eagled the Par 5 4^th and immediately backed it up with a birdie on the short Par 4 4^th to move to 8-under.

His round could have been even lower as finished with four straight Pars which included missing a short range birdie putt on the 9^th, his last hole.

“It’s great, this is my first course record ever” said Hawkes.

His form has been fluctuating of late finishing third in the Qantas Golf Club Pro-Am at the beginning of the week and after missing the cut at the Oates Vic Open last weekend.

“I’ve been playing really well since the start of the year, I shot 12-under in Asian Qualifying School first stage but I missed out, so it’s kind of been a year of good golf and misses so far so it’s nice to finally get one over the line.”

Just a reminder to all that morning field tee off is 7.30am sharp and afternoon field tee off is 12.30pm sharp.

Please register 1 hour prior to tee off. Breakfast/lunch will be provided during this time.

Golf Greens

Due to the unfavourable weather conditions over the past few days we are planning to do a mini core next Thursday 5^th of January. This is the same mini core as last year and expect a full recovery within 7 to 10 days. This will help aid the recovery of the stressed areas and allow better root and air movement for new growth to occur.

The boys and I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy new year
