Today, Golf Australia provided clubs with an update in relation to the State Government’s targeted restrictions. The advice provided to all golf clubs is that any member who resides within any of the nominated postcodes is not to visit a golf club during the lockdown period from 11.59 pm on Wednesday 1st of July until at least Wednesday 29th July. Our club records show that we only have one financial member who could be affected by these new conditions. All members’ guests will have to adhere to these rules. License checks will be requested by the golf shop.

Clubs & Facilities located in those postcodes
The Victorian Government has advised that clubs & facilities within these postcodes must close from 11.59pm on Wednesday the 1st of July until at least Wednesday, 29 July.

Clubs and facilities can continue normal maintenance practices during this time with either a paid or volunteer workforce.

Clubs & Facilities located outside of those postcodes
The Victorian Government has advised the following that will have an impact on clubs and facilities outside of those postcodes;

  • That residents of those postcodes, should not be leaving home to play golf outside those postcodes, as golf does not fit into the four essential reasons to leave home

The effect of this advice on clubs and facilities in non-affected postcodes is as follows:

  • If you have members who reside in any of the above postcodes who present themselves at your club/facility to play golf or utilise other facilities, you should request the member to leave the premises immediately.
  • Member guest players from the above postcodes should not be accepted for play, and clubs and facilities should continue to collect information of all guests of your club/facility. If a guest resides in any of the above postcodes, you should request the guest to leave the premises immediately.

To further this the DHHS states;
If you live in one of these locations you need to stay at home. There are four reasons that you can leave home:

  • Shopping for food or other essential items
  • To provide care giving, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment
  • For exercise (outdoor exercise only, with only one other person or members of your household)
  • Work or study, if you cannot work or study from home

The club will be contacting those who reside within those areas to inform them they will not be able to attend the club during the lockdown period.

Similarly, members must also be aware that any guests they bring to the club must reside outside the nominated postcodes. The pro shop & bar staff will be asking for a photo ID showing the address of any guest visiting Heidelberg Golf Club.
